Automation & RPA
Robotic process automation (RPA) uses software "bots" to repeat rule-based tasks in applications, usually by mimicking user actions.
Explanatory overview of the technology category. It describes no specific Samtal product feature, customer or result.
Typical RPA work
- Moving data between systems that are not integrated.
- Filling forms from structured inputs.
- Generating routine reports.
- Reconciling records across applications.
Strengths
RPA requires no change to the underlying systems and suits high-volume, stable, well-defined processes.
Limits
Classic bots follow recorded scripts and selectors. When a screen layout changes, a field moves or an unexpected dialog appears, they tend to break and need maintenance. They also struggle with unstructured inputs such as free-text emails or scanned documents.
Where AI comes in
Combining automation with AI models that can read screens and documents and decide what to do next is the idea behind computer-use AI.
